On successful completion of this qualification, you may progress into employment or continue your study in the vocational area.

 

What kind of job could this qualification lead to?

Following further study, this type of qualification can lead to a range of exciting creative jobs within the design industry such as Web, Interior, Creative Digital or Mechanical Design.  You could even pursue a career in teaching or become a Technician in 3D Art and Design depending on how far you wish to continue with your studies.  The choice is vast with a number of different opportunities for those who have creativity and a flair for design.

 

What is it?

BTEC Certificates are designed to provide focused and specialist work-related qualifications in a range of sectors. The BTEC Courses offer a focused qualification for learners, who wish to follow a programme of study that is directly related to their work experience or to an aspect of employment that they wish to move into in due course.

 

The Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Certificate in 3D Design is a 240-hour qualification comprising four units of 60 hours each.

 

To achieve the whole qualification, a learner must successfully complete four from the following specialist units.

 

Level 2 BTEC Certificate in 3D Design

Specialist units

Unit 1 Materials, Techniques and Processes

Unit 2 Working in Spatial Design

Unit 3 Working in 3D Design Crafts

Unit 4 Working in Product Design

Unit 5 Explore Surface Decoration

Unit 6 Exploring Ceramics

Unit 7 2D and 3D Communication

Unit 8 Vocational Contexts

 

Further Vocational and Academic Qualifications

Having achieved the BTEC Level 2 Certificate, it may be possible to further your personal development and employability skills by undertaking another BTEC qualification in a vocational area that interests you.  Alternatively, you could progress to a qualification at level 3, such as a BTEC Certificate Level 3 in 3D Design. Or you could work towards an NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) in a specific area of skill, especially if you would be working in a related area.

 

How long will it take me to complete this qualification?

It will take two academic years to complete having 3 lessons per week.

 

Are there any exams?

No.  All assessment is through projects and assignments.

 

What are the entry requirements?

Target Grade A* - C.

The entry requirements for the Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Certificate in 3D Design are determined by those schools, colleges or training providers approved to deliver this qualification.  You should have the interest and potential to succeed in achieving the qualification and ideally be able to show you have reasonable levels of literacy and numeracy, as determined by the Adult Literacy and Numeracy National Standards.

 

 

How will I be taught?

In the classroom / workshop producing practical and theory work.  Also a 2 week placement in the Design Industry (wherever possible).  In addition to learning, visits from outside speakers / demonstrators and educational visits.
