During the first year you study for an ‘AS’ Level in accounting and take two modules as follows:
- Module 1 – Introduction to Financial Accounting
- Module 2 – Financial and Management Accounting
Both modules are examined in June. If you complete the first two modules you will be awarded an ‘AS’ Level in Accounting.
During the second year you study two modules as follows to gain a full ‘A’ Level, these are:
- Module 3 – Further Aspects of Financial Accounting
- Module 4 – Further Aspects of Management Accounting
Module 3 is examined in January and module 4 is examined in June.
If you complete all four modules you are awarded the full ‘A’ Level in Accounting.
You need to be aware that although Accounting is a mathematical subject there is a considerable amount of written work (particularly in the second year) and you will be required to analyse and interpret accounting information, therefore you need to be methodical and tidy in your presentation. You will be expected to buy the recommended text book and bring it to class and you will be expected to complete homework each week.
