The AAT apprenticeship is an NVQ/SVQ in Accounting. It combines work-based activities, simulated tasks and exams to provide a qualification equivalent to that of a degree without getting in all that debt like at university!

The AAT is an internationally recognised qualification amongst thousands of employers worldwide. It is awarded by the Association of Accounting Technicians which, with over 100,000 members, is the largest body of accounting technicians in the UK today.

Accounting Technicians work at all levels - from Accounts Clerks to Financial Controllers in all industries and sectors. Some Technicians even become regulated to provide accounting services on a selfemployed basis.

You can start the qualification straight from school, at any level and there are no minimum requirements. All you need is a desire to learn and to work hard.

Although a keen eye for maths and business would be an advantage!

How long will it take?

There are no time restrictions so you can study at your own pace and passes achieved in any unit are held indefinitely (subject to AAT standards changes).

As a guide, most of our students take 6 months to complete the foundation/certificate level and a year each to complete the remaining two levels.

Accountancy is one of the few professions in this country where you can reach the highest ranks without a university education. The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification can provide you with exemptions from all Professional Accountancy Qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW which we also teach here at Kaplan Financial.
